Opened in 1928. Restored in 2005

The primary purpose of the theatre is large-scale entertainment.

Originally billed as "Knoxville's Grand Entertainment Palace”

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the Official State Theatre of Tennessee

The theatre has a Unique Spanish-Moorish style interior
It was one of the first public places in Knoxville to have air-conditioning
The restoration of required a very unique engineering solution extending the back of the theater over State Street to allow for the expansion of the the stage area
